Product description
With a current transformer, also known as a current transducer, high electrical currents are converted to a lower, measurable current. The current transformer is connected to a meter or power analyser to gain insights into and monitor electrical systems, especially in industrial and utility environments.
Split-core current transformers
The split-core current transformers are ideal for situations where flexibility and easy installation are required. They can be quickly and safely placed around an existing conductor without the need to dismantle or de-energise the conductor. This makes them particularly suitable for retrofit projects and situations where downtime (due to a de-energised installation) must be kept to a minimum.
Non split-core current transformers
For applications where maximum robustness and minimal maintenance costs are required, the non split-core current transformers offer an excellent solution. These transformers are built as a single unit and guarantee long-term reliability and consistency. Their simple yet effective design also ensures a long service life and trouble-free operation.
Transformation ratio
The transformation ratio indicates how many times greater the primary current is compared to the secondary current. For example, a ratio of 100:1 means 100 amperes on the primary side is 1 ampere on the secondary side. The primary side is connected to the circuit to be measured, while the secondary side is connected to a measuring instrument. This allows high currents to be measured safely and accurately. The standard values for the secondary current are 1 A and 5 A.
